Argentine Diego Schwartzman, number 14 in the ATP ranking, has made his debut with victory at the US Open. The two-time quarterfinalist of this tournament (2017 and 2019) has beaten the Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis 7-5, 6-3 and 6-3 in a game that went from less to more after almost two and a half hours of meeting.

The seeded No. 11 of the tournament is already waiting for his rival in the second round, who will come out of the confrontation between Czech Jiri Vesely and South African Kevin Anderson.
