Zeljko Obradovic will face the Joventut from Badalona and will visit the Olympic in an official match, 27 years after leading the green-black club to the conquest of the European League. That is so because his new team, the Partizan Belgrade, has been framed in the same group of regular phase as the Joventut in the Eurocup draw held this Friday in Barcelona.
Joventut and Partizan are two of the ten teams of the group A, which also includes MoraBanc Andorra, Lokomotiv Kuban, Lietkabelis Panevezys, Dolomiti Energia Trento, Boulogne Metropolitans 92, Turk Telekom Ankara, Hamburg Towers and Slask Wroclaw.
In the B Group the other two participating ACB teams are integrated, Valencia Basket and Gran canaria. Along with them are Promitheas Patras (Luis Casimiro’s new team), Buducnost Voli Podgorica, Virtus Segafredo Bologna, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, Mincidelice JL Bourg, Ratiopharm Ulm, Frutti Extra Bursasport and Umana Reyer Venice.
This season the format of Eurocup varies, with two groups of ten teams each in the regular phase. Here the first eight of each group will be played in a double round and qualify for the next phase. These rounds from the last 16 to the final will be played with the elimination formula for a single match on the court of the team with the best classification in the regular phase.
