World Series rosters: Astros include Marwin González, Braves right-hander Kyle Wright

So are the rosters of the World Series.

ANDVenezuelan infielder Marwin González was included in the roster of the Houston Astros to face the Atlanta Braves in the World Series.

Houston shut out outfielder Jake Meyers prior to the first game on Tuesday night.

Gonzalez, a member of the Houston team that won the 2017 World Series, has not played since the last day of the regular season, Oct. 3. He hit .176 in 34 at-bats after the Astros acquired him in August after being released by Boston.

Meyers injured his left shoulder when he crashed into the wall in Game 4 of the division series against Chicago on Oct. 12, and has had no action since.

The Braves made two modifications on his roster: the right-hander Kyle wright and the outfielder / pinch runner Terrance gore were added instead of right Jacob Webb and the Panamanian infielder Johan Camargo.

Wright hasn’t pitched in the majors since June 23. The 26-year-old pitcher made his last outing on October 2, covering seven scoreless innings for the Braves’ Triple-A branch. He was 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA with the Braves this year and was 10-5 with a 3.02 ERA in 24 starts with the Gwinnett affiliate.

Wright had two starts in the 2020 playoffs, including six scoreless innings against Miami to win Game 3 of the Division Series. He also allowed seven runs and got just two outs in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.

Gore was part of the roster for the Division Series against Milwaukee and had a pinch-running intervention for Joc Pederson in Game 2.
