Schwarber home runs in extra innings and the Nationals win

Kyle Schwarber commands the triumph of the Nationals.

Kyle Schwarber led off the bottom of the 10th with a two-run homer, and the Washington Nationals, supported by a good debut from Jon Lester, rallied to beat the Marlins 2-1 on Friday of Miami.

Josh Bell started the extra inning as an automatic runner at second. Schwarber found a fastball with a count of 0-1 and sent the ball over the fence, between right and center field, against the Dominican Yimi García (2-2).

It was the second home run with which Schwarber has left his rivals lying on the ground this season.

Brad Hand (2-0) covered a pair of innings to reap victory.

A single of Garrett Cooper pushed the Dominican José Devers, for the Marlins to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the 10th inning.

Lester, who was teammates with Schwarber on the Chicago Cubs, worked five blank innings. He pitched for the first time in a Washington uniform after remaining on the disabled list.

He tolerated five hits and issued a couple of tickets, on a 70-pitch effort, which included a strikeout.

For the Marlins, the Venezuelans Miguel Rojas 5-1, Jesús Aguilar 3-1, Pablo López 3-0. Puerto Rican Isan Díaz 3-0. The Dominican Devers without an official turn but with one scored.
