Sao Paulo, Jun 28 (EFE) .- Bragantino won 0-1 this Monday in their visit to Atlético Goianense, a result that consolidates them in the first position of the Brazilian league after the first seven days of the tournament.
The team from the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, which this season returned to the First Division after a 22-year absence, could not with the iron defense of Goianense until the 82nd minute, when Weberton finally managed to beat the efficient goalkeeper Fernando Miguel.
The result confirmed Bragantino’s tremendous start in this championship, which now leads with 17 points, the product of 5 wins and two draws, and in which it remains undefeated after the first seven days.
In second place, although with one game less, is Athletico Paranaense, with 13 points, followed by Palmeiras, who also accumulate 13 points, but with seven games.
One of the great surprises in these first seven days has been the excellent performance of the clubs considered more “small”, but also the weak start to the season of the more traditional teams.
Among the biggest disappointments are the Gremio, which is in last place with just two points, and Sao Paulo, which this year hired Argentine coach Hernán Crespo and is in box 17 with four points, after drawing four games, losing three and still without knowing the victory in this league.
