Barça returns from the five Leagues

In the 2011-12 season, 9 years ago, FC Barcelona won five of the six leagues that the club’s professional squads played: women’s football, futsal, basketball, handball and roller hockey. Only then did the men’s soccer team fail, which had won three in a row but had to settle for the Cup in the farewell to the award-winning stage of Pep Guardiola on the bench. The plenary session has not been possible either in this 2020-21 academic year for the same reason: Barça de Ronald Koeman, third in the league behind Atlético and Real Madrid, prevented the party from being complete. At the very least, the aforementioned record of five in club history was equaled.

The Barça of futsal, in the goodbye of Andreu Plaza to the bench, he was the last to lift the trophy of his competition. He did it with suspense, on penalties after equaling the final of the final twice (the third game of the playoff for the title) against Levante in the last minute of the game (1-1) and in the last minute of extra time ( 2-2). After his third place in the regular phase, the final series of the Barcelona team was a monument to persistence and the capacity for suffering. In the quarterfinals he was on the ropes against Movistar Inter after losing the first game at the Palau and reacted by winning the second away game on penalties before winning the third at home. In the semifinals, they eliminated Palma Futsal 2-0 by a fictitious fast track, as both games reached extra time. And in the final the quarterfinal history was repeated: KO at the Palau to start on penalties, reaction in Paterna and title at home. Of eight games played in the ‘playoff’, in five he went to extra time and in three to penalties. Brutal.

Barça women and Barça handball were the ones who won the League with more comfort. Lluís Cortés, which will not continue either, they added 99 points out of 102 possible because they only lost one game with the title conquered and exhausted after also celebrating the Champions League and the Cup. Their 167 goals say it all. The team of Xavi Pascual, another who will change benches, did make the full point (68).

Saras jasikevicius, Barça basketball coach, and Edu castro, of the roller hockey team, will retain their positions after winning their respective Leagues. The Lithuanian, with Pau Gasol, returned the title to Palau Blaugrana seven years later in the best way: defeating Real Madrid in the final. And Castro’s team resisted the push of the Liceo, its great rival.
