France, after the defeat harvested last Thursday (72-61), took revenge against Spain in the clash on Saturday.
In a match in which the attacks were clearly imposed on the defenses, the French offensive potential knocked down Lucas Mondelo’s defensive system with good ball circulation, intensity in the rebounds and a great game from the Lyon Marine Fauthoux base and the forward Gabby Williams, who raised their scoring figures to 14 and 17 points, respectively.
Spain started the game in the best possible way, with a triple by Alba Torres, in the end, the best of the Spanish with 22 points. However, the reaction of the French was not long in coming, they took control of the match and got an early advantage of 7 points (10-7).
After a few minutes of disconnection, Mondelo’s men were rebuilt on the Parisian court and, with Torrens acting as the absolute leader of the team, they reduced the distance to two points at the end of the first period.
In the second quarter, the Spanish defense made waters. The agile circulation of the French and their transitions destabilized the Spanish defensive balance and the income stretched to 11 points (51-40).
The physical potential of the galas was evident in the rebounds and, on the paint, Fauthoux (14) and Gruda (10), became giants against a Spain that left many spaces.
After passing through the changing rooms, Spain showed a more recognizable image. They contained the French bloodletting and the connection between Torrens, Queralt Casas (6) and María Conde (9), raised the Spanish scoring figure to win the first set of the match in the third quarter (18-17).
In the final act, the Spanish insistence was very close to turning the result around. A basket after the recovery of Raquel Carrera (5) with 23 seconds remaining, left Spain 3 points behind the galas, who kept their loot after scoring two free throws to seal their first win in this preparation phase.
