Houston is not dead. The Astros came from behind in the fifth inning to crush the Braves in Atlanta and avoid his coronation in a victory for Mexican José Urquidy. The ninth won 9-5 and after this result, the World Series will return to Minute Maid Park.
In a night that seemed unbeatable, the Braves started with great joy. Framber Valdez’s opening was marred by a sublime grand slam that Duvall gave to right field.
The answer was not long in coming from the Houston side. At zero hour and with a Davidson who was not fine, on the second roll, the ninth came within a two-run difference.
The joy began to fade in the park. Chavez’s relief failed to be effective and with the offensive on, the races came to make a new game just in the third chapter.
Fortunately for Atlanta, the Astros’ arms weren’t fine yet. Freeman returned the lead with a solo homerun over Valdez. The damage was hardly minimal and hope remained with a long way to go.
After Garcia’s work, it was Urquidy’s turn to work the entire fourth inning. The Mexican hardly experienced a shock, but with a great handling of the serpentine he stopped Atlanta in his tracks; enough merits to aspire to success.
The big moment for the Astros carried over to the fifth inning. Houston managed to eclipse Minter’s relief to capitalize with a full house. A walk to Maldonado spoiled Atlanta’s strategy and the ‘wheelie race’ fell. Then a Gonzalez single catapulted the comeback into a three-race rally.
With the spirits in the ground and no party, Dusty Baker’s bullpen hung up rings. Maldonado in a big plan became a nightmare and a couple more races gave the victory to Astros. The next game will be Tuesday in Houston.
