DK Metcalf, wide receiver of the Seattle Seahawks, debuted this Sunday in the 100 meter dash and tried to get a ticket for the test at Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Metcalf failed to secure the spot by finishing ninth in his heat and with the third-worst time of the entire competition at the USA Track and Field Golden Games and Distance Open.
The receiver actually got a more than acceptable time of 10:36, although not enough to compare with athletes of the specialty to go to Tokyo.
Metcalf had caused a stir in recent days by announcing that he would seek to compete in the aforementioned competition and seek to go to the Olympics.
USA Track and Field had extended an invitation to Metcalf to join the relay team, all after spectacular action the previous NFL season.
“Just happy to be here. To have the opportunity to come here and race against these guys is a blessing,” said DK Metcalf after his performance.
