Òscar Mingueza renews with Barça until 2023 with 100 million clause


The homegrown defender of FC Barcelona Òscar Mingueza has exercised the renewal clause of his contract and now the end date of the same will be at the end of the 2022/23 season, with a clause of 100 million euros.

“FC Barcelona has made effective today the option to extend the contract of Òscar Mingueza, who will continue to be linked to the club until June 30, 2023“, announced the club.

Mingueza signed the extension of his contract, which includes a buyout clause of 100 million euros, in a private event with the Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta, at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The central and right-handed side, from Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), is one of the homegrown players who have exploded this year in the first team, under the command of the coach, Ronald Koeman. From the Prebenjamín team to Barça B, with whom he debuted on July 27, 2016 and established himself in the 2018/19 campaign, Mingueza is a player one hundred percent Masia. In November 2020, he was claimed by Koeman and has been in first-team dynamics ever since.

His debut with the first team was on November 24, 2020, in a group stage match of the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev (Blaugrana win by 0-4), giving a goal assist to Martin Braithwaite. Since then, Mingueza has played a total of 36 matches with the first team –24 in LaLiga, 5 in the ‘Champions’, 5 in the Copa del Rey and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup–, in which he has scored two goals and given three assists.
