Moncho Fernández: “Permanence is the first objective”

The Monbus coach Obradoiro, Moncho
Fernandez, admitted this Saturday that the first objective of his team for the 2021-22 season will be to achieve permanence, although he advanced that “they are not going to give up anything.”

“I think that, as much as we say it, this year has been very difficult in all aspects. In order for the club to function, economic stability is needed, which implies great efforts by those who run it ”, commented the Santiago coach.

Moncho
Fernandez has just renewed its contract with the entity that presides Raul
Lopez two more years, until June 2023.

“To feel again the illusion of the people, the ambition of the club to grow within its possibilities… It is what moves me. And I always believe that we can do better. I have no other illusion than that ”, said the technician at a press conference in which he was accompanied by the president, Raul
Lopez, and the CEO, Joseph
Lewis
Matthew.

The Galician coach thanked the “confidence” that the board of directors has shown him again, and said that his challenge is to “live up to” that responsibility.

For his part, the president and maximum shareholder of the Obradoiro, Raúl Lopez, advanced that at the end of the League the sports management offered its technical report to the Board of directors and “proposed to transfer a renewal offer” to the coach, something that the Council approved.

“From there, the conversations began and we have closed with Moncho an agreement for the next two seasons ”, indicated the businessman, who applauded that the coaching staff that leads Fernandez has contributed to the “construction” of the club’s philosophy.

“Even if Moncho He has been with us for a long time, because 11 seasons is a long time in today’s sport, we think he is the ideal person to continue captaining the boat ”, said Raúl López.
