Lyou Mets want to close the season big and for this they managed to finalize an agreement with Cubs for shortstop Javier Báez, for the remainder of the year and thus strengthen their offense.
According to information from Jeff Passan, Baez would go to the Mets in the absence of passing the medical exams and the compensation the Cubs could make is still unknown.
The acquisition comes when Baez is hitting .248 with 22 homers and 65 RBIs this season. And the deal could include Trevor Williams who also makes it to the Mets, He is 4-2 with a 5.06 ERA in 13 games and 12 starts.
His change is focused on finding help improve his third base together with Francisco Lindor Who is recovering from an injury, for now Baez will be in his place and then move to a second or third base.
