The RFEF Competition Committee has agreed this Tuesday to suspend for two games to Villarreal players Mario Gaspar and Gerónimo Rulli. In the case of Mario Gaspar it is due to “attitudes of contempt or disregard towards the referees, managers or sports authorities (Art. 117)” and in Rulli’s case, it is due to “protests to the referee (Art. 120)”, according to the statement issued by the federative body.
Both players were sent off on Sunday during the match against Celta in Villarreal (2-4). In the match report, the referee explains that Rulli saw the red card in the 45th minute for “repeatedly disapproving of arbitration decisions with a loud voice and having been previously warned”. Mario Gaspar was sent off in the 46th minute for addressing the referee in the following terms: “It’s a shame!”
