For Marc Márquez there is a before and after his 2020 injury. Not only did it make him miss the whole season, but now that he’s back on the bike and back on the track he’s not letting him be himself either.

Marc Márquez: “There is a lot of uninformed boquerón talking”

“Now I’m racing and trying to improve my level, but I’m not enjoying it. I enjoy a couple of laps or a corner. You don’t enjoy the pain. The goal is to enjoy more. When I do, I’ll go faster“, he recounted at the press conference prior to the San Marino GP in Misano. The problem is that there is no way to accelerate his recovery.

“The plan is to try to understand how to improve in the next races,” he says. His physical training is based on resting “three days after each race”, “then I train for two days and fly to the circuit”. “It’s not how I worked in the past. Plan A is to work on myself,” he admits.

After a bad 2020 and a 2021 that can be quite improvable, the goal is to reach 2022 in full power. For this reason, in the next tests he will test with new parts and a prototype with the clear objective: “If we improve a little in both directions, the bike and I, we will be able to fight for the title. If not, we will continue to have difficulties.”

Although his feelings are not good, Márquez already knows what it is to win again (did it at the German GP) and in the last round of the championship, the Aragon GP, was 2nd.
