Federer, Muguruza and Alcaraz debut on Monday; Nadal and Djokovic, on Tuesday

It is now official that Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic, the two big favorites to take the title at Roland Garros, will debut on Tuesday. The tournament organization published on the web for the accredited media the list of matches for the upper part of both tables for Monday and it does not include those of the Spanish and the Serbian, against Alexei Popyrin and Tennys Sandgren, respectively. Yes Roger Federer against him qualifier Denis Istomin and those of the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza against the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk and Carlos Alcaraz against their compatriot Bernabé Zapata. They will also play Sara Sorribes, against the Chinese Saisai Zheng, and Lara Arruabarrena, against the Russian Varvara Gracheva. The schedules are not yet known.

The fact that Djokovic played and won the final of the ATP 250 in Belgrade this Saturday has been decisive in making the decision that he will not play until Tuesday, apart from the fact that the tournament was not interested in the big three of men’s tennis playing the same day for the purposes of programming, spectators and audiences. They will probably schedule Nadal’s game in the afternoon and that of the Balkan in the new night shift that will start at 9:00 p.m.

On Monday the remaining matches of the lower part of the tables will be played, with Spanish presence in the men’s. Pedro Martínez will face the American Sebastian Korda, who has just won the Parma tournament and Jaume Munar will meet the Australian Jordan Thompson.
