Antetokounmpo alarm! Knee injury for Greek Bucks star

The Milwaukee Bucks lost a game last night, but they may have lost too
to its leader and main reference on and off the pitch, the Greek Giannis Antetokoumpo. In a 110-88 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the two-time MVP apparently seriously injured his left knee on a play with Clint Capela with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter.

“Let’s see how he is tomorrow”said Mike Budenholzer, who did not want to venture into the consequences of the accident. The franchise will conduct further diagnostic tests Wednesday to confirm the extent of an injury that, so far, the medical team has defined hyperextension of the left knee.

Some internal team sources, however, have already voiced the worst fears within the Bucks: it could be a cruciate ligament injury, which would mean a long period of absence and goodbye to the playoffs and the season.

Anteto fell ill and was trapped under one foot of Capela on the play, which caused the unnatural movement of his knee. Immediately, the Greek player grabbed the joint with an obvious wince of pain.

The bench and his brother Thanassis helped him get up and go to the locker room, and Anteto was able to briefly return to the bench to cheer on his teammates from the band. When the Hawks confirmed they were going to beat up their opponent, the Greek left the front row again.
